BiographySkye Jarvis is a Canadian artist born in Toronto, Ontario. She is a surrealist painter, creating works of art using oil on canvas.
In 2002, Skye completed her degree in fine arts from Queen's University, at Kingston, Ontario. In 2005 she graduated with honours from Humber College with a post graduate certificate in 3D Animation. After graduating, she was a founding member of a Toronto based art collective where she curated the visual aspect of all shows, as well as displaying her own work. Skye was a participating artist in Collage 2003 and has shown her work in a variety of festivals and spaces in Toronto and surrounding areas. Skye's work is feminine, mindful and solitary. Her main character finds herself in many different landscapes, from waters edge to cliff side. Her paintings depict a journey of reflection and acceptance of self, as well as, experiencing and creating connections with her environment. Skye's paintings are rich and vibrant in colour. She creates her backgrounds using layers and glazes to achieve depth and texture, which contrasts the highly stylized and sculptural figure often found in her work. Skye currently lives in Grimsby, Ontario where she works out of her home studio. Her work can be found in private collections in North America and Europe. |
